Sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice for spider veins and small varicose veins on the legs. A solution, either Asclera® or hypertonic saline depending on your veins, is injected into the vein, causing it to collapse and gradually be absorbed by the body.

Treated veins fade over several weeks, with full results in about a month or more. Most patients need several sessions for the best results.

Preparing for your visit

• Don't shave your legs the day of treatment.

• Wear loose pants or a long skirt, since your legs will be wrapped afterward.

• Avoid scheduling within 4 weeks before a sunny vacation, as sun exposure can increase the risk of discoloration.
