Ileana Zapatero, MD
Dr. Ileana Zapatero is a Board Certified Dermatologist specializing in acne, skin cancer, skin cancer surgery, intense pulsed light and cosmetic dermatology. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami. She attended the University Of Miami School Of Medicine and was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and received her medical degree in 1984. She was a recipient of the John J. Fomon Research Fellowship from the American Cancer Society. She interned in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1985 and completed her residency in Dermatology in 1988 at UCLA Hospital and Medical Center. She received board certification in October 1988.
Dr. Zapatero has been in private practice in Los Angeles since 1988. In addition to her private practice she maintains her academic affiliation as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Department of Medicine at the Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has taught residents at the VA Wadsworth Medical Center and more recently has taught third year medical students in her office as a preceptor.
Dr. Zapatero has been involved in several clinical trials involving acne, including a novel benzoyl peroxide formulation. She has served as a consultant with Lisa Hoffman Skin Care and has been interviewed by Telemundo to discuss the safety and efficacy of Botox.
Dr. Zapatero is married with 3 children and resides in Los Angeles California.
Wendi Schulze, FNP-C
Wendi Schulze is a board certified Nurse Practitioner with expertise in cosmetic and general dermatology. She started in medicine working with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responding to 911 emergency operations related to medical calls, trauma, swift-water rescue, structure and brush fires. She then attended nursing school and became interested in Dermatology. Working alongside two Board Certified Dermatologists for more than 20 years, she ultimately refined her skills and practices as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Dermatology. Wendi graduated with honors from Walden University with her Masters in Nursing.
She has spent most of her career in Southern California serving the surrounding communities while developing an expertise in clinical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She then relocated to Whidbey Island with her husband and three children to serve an underserved community, practicing intense medical dermatology. She has now returned to Los Angeles to join Dr. Ileana Zapatero and her practice. Wendi’s clinical expertise is focused on acne, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, skin cancer screening, chemical peels, Botox, fillers, lasers, microneedling, PRP, and performing small excisions. Her calm demeanor and friendly approach makes her easily approachable by her patients.
Wendi works closely with Dr. Zapatero, reflecting her practice style. She sees patients both with Dr. Zapatero and independently, ensuring that they work collaboratively as a team to care for patients with a cohesive approach. Wendi now resides in Malibu with her husband and sons.
Sandy Thomas, RN
Sandy has 29 years of experience as a registered nurse. She is a graduate of Rhode Island College School of Nursing and worked on her masters degree at Boston College School of Nursing. She has been working as a laser nurse specialist in the field of dermatology and cosmetic surgery for the past 10 years, and became Laser Certified in 2006. She is committed to providing the highest quality of care and specializes in Laser Hair Removal, Small Vein Ablation, Intense Pulsed Light Treatment also known as (IPL or photofacials) and Micro-dermabrasion.
